Job Specification

Job Title: Investor Relations Associate

Reports to: Directors

Agilequity helps clients buy and sell their businesses, raise funding, value their businesses, and build company value using Corporate Finance Solutions. 

The Investor Relations Associate’s primary responsibility is to support these processes by finding and managing buyers, sellers, and funders through these processes, to successful conclusion.

This would require that you review and understand:

  • The teasers, information memorandum and pitch decks and ensure they are fit for purpose (market prep).
  • Run a process to understand who the best buyers, sellers and funders would be (research prospective targets).
  • Reach out to the prospective targets and sell the benefits to them.
  • Manage the interested parties through the process until they begin negotiating (nurture).
  • Project manage resources in Agilequity to respond to the prospective target’s needs and to negotiate the deal to close.

You would necessarily build relationships with professional buyers, sellers and funders who are regularly in the market and maintain a database.

At inception you would have one person in your team and would need to be both the team leader and do the work yourself. It is our intention to grow this team to between 4-8 people over the next two years and you would be responsible for building and leading the full team.

This position is pivotal to the future of our company and is expected to grow rapidly providing a motivated self-starter with a large amount of runway to grow.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Market prep

  • Review IM’s, Teasers and Pitch Decks, may be required to assist in compiling, to both understand the client’s requirements and ensure that the information is fit for your outreach process.
  • Run the processes for identifying the best categories of buyers, sellers and funders for our clients and getting client alignment.

Finding buyers/sellers/funders

Research

  • Identify and research potential buyers/sellers/funders who meet the criteria set out in market prep using tools such as Appollo, LinkedIn, AI, our CRM Database.
  • Consider potential benefits/synergies for identified buyers and sellers to be able to explain why they should engage in the process. 

Reach out

  • Make initial contact and sign NDA’s where necessary.

Nurture

  • Send Teasers, IM’s and Pitch decks where appropriate.
  • Manage follow ups via meetings, emails, phone calls.
  • Update Maximiser/CRM to reflect stage in process and all other information gleaned in the process.
  • Manage flow of information to potential buyers/sellers/funders.

Negotiate and close

  • Support negotiations and signing of MOU.
  • Prepare VDR and answer funder/buyers/questions.
  • Support further negotiations and drafting and review of long-form contracts.
  • Attend and support closing.

Other

  • Maintain quality of the database by creating a culture in the team of entering all interactions correctly and keeping the database up to date.
  • Regularly engage with your existing contacts in the database by finding opportunities to stay in touch with them consistently.
  • Act as team lead by training team, scheduling team to clients, leading staff and ensuring team’s optimum performance. 
  • Ensure outreach reports are generated for internal use and for clients and analyse and react to reports.
  • Present to clients and manage client expectations around outreach.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum three-year degree/diploma with a financial or business angle to the degree – candidates without a financial qualification will need to show at least a basic understanding of finance.

Minimum Requirements:

3-5 year’s work experience in a commercial business environment in a high performance position. As well as 1 year team leadership experience. 

Experience that will be an added advantage: 

  • Mergers and acquisitions or financial services environment
  • Experience in a client facing or outreach role that demonstrates your ability to interact with people outside the organisation in a professional manner.
